The French squad got off to a good start in their participation in Paris 2024. They defeated the Colombian team by the narrowest margin in a dramatic match.

The French team took to the field motivated for their first match of the summer competition. The Europeans came out very aggressive, so much so that it only took six minutes for Marie-Antoinette Katoto to open the scoring. The second French goal fell in the 18th minute, courtesy of Kenza Dali. Three minutes before the end of the first half, what seemed like a dagger for Colombia occurred, as Katoto scored her second goal of the match. The South Americans returned motivated from the locker room and managed to reduce the difference thanks to Catalina Usme slotting the ball into the back of the net from the penalty spot.

Ten minutes later, Mariana Paví scored to further narrow the French lead to the minimum, however, in the 86th minute, Mayra Ramírez was sent off. In this way, the European team managed to secure their first three points in Paris 2024.
