The Moroccan football team earned their first victory at the 2024 Olympics in Paris by defeating Argentina 2-1 on the first day of competition.

Morocco opened the scoring in the 45th minute with Soufiane Rahimi converting a pass inside the penalty area. Not satisfied with just a goal, they managed to increase their lead by earning a penalty when Argentine defender Julio Soler fouled Moroccan attacker Ilias Akhomach. Rahimi successfully converted the penalty kick.

Argentina's consolation goal came from Giuliano Simeone in the 67th minute with an assist from Soler. The equalizing goal was scored in stoppage time. In the 90+15 minute, Cristian Medina appeared to have scored the tying goal, but a pitch invasion led to the suspension of the game. This interruption allowed for a VAR review of the play, which determined it was offside and subsequently disallowed the goal.
