JP Performance heads to China to take a close look at the brand-new Xiaomi SU7 Ultra. At first glance Jean Pierre is blown away: the four-door electric super-sports car looks futuristic, combining aggressive lines with unmistakable Xiaomi design cues without appearing overdone. Especially eye-catching are the deployable aero elements, the slim matrix LED headlights and the full-width rear light bar. JP repeatedly points out that, despite its 1,500 hp, the car is meant to be everyday-usable—a balancing act hardly any manufacturer has pursued this consistently.

The in-depth check focuses on tech and performance. The SU7 Ultra runs a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system with about 1,100 kW of output, roughly 1,500 hp. According to Xiaomi it rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in just under two seconds and tops out at an electronically limited 305 km/h. Power comes from a 120 kWh high-performance silicon-based battery that can fast-charge from 10 to 80 percent in eight minutes. JP notes that Xiaomi is relying heavily on its own cell technology to hit the WLTP target of roughly 800 km of range—crucial for Europe.

Software is a major talking point: Xiaomi’s in-house ecosystem is integrated seamlessly into the vehicle. A 16-inch display lets users control smart-home devices, and the car’s OS works with MIUI phones and tablets just like in the living room. JP tries out voice control, augmented-reality navigation and a 3-D parking system that positions the SU7 Ultra with millimeter precision. He’s particularly impressed by the computing power behind the autonomous functions, which run on NVIDIA Orin chips and are said to enable Level-3 assistance.

Inside, sustainable materials, Alcantara-like fabrics and open-pore carbon dominate. Despite super-car performance there are four full-size seats, a 540-liter frunk and a 180-liter rear trunk. JP praises the comfortable seating position, the high-quality switchgear feel and the surprisingly good all-round visibility. He does, however, criticize the still-imperfect German menu language and wishes for more traditional knobs for volume and climate control.

Finally, JP takes a brief test drive on a closed course. The instant torque hurls him back in the seat while the adaptive air suspension smooths out bumps. Torque vectoring keeps the SU7 Ultra remarkably neutral even in tight corners. JP sums up that with a projected starting price under €200,000, Xiaomi is stirring up the hyper-car segment: 1,500 hp, nearly 800 km of range and a fully integrated ecosystem could put European manufacturers under pressure. His verdict: the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra isn’t just a show car—it’s a serious statement from China, and it “completely knocked his socks off.”
