Sponsors show scant interest because the format offers neither exclusive TV slots nor a compelling global narrative. Participation is lucrative for smaller Asian or African clubs, yet their lack of sporting chances reduces the event’s appeal for neutral viewers.

Broski notes that FIFA president Gianni Infantino has long recognised the prestige problem and, starting in 2025, plans an expanded 32-team Club World Cup. The YouTuber views this as a last-ditch rescue attempt: more European and South American sides, a summer window, and a World-Cup-style format are meant to enhance the event. He warns, however, that an overcrowded fixture calendar, player-workload limits and potential conflicts with the Champions League could create fresh issues.

Broski also highlights the sport-political dimension. For FIFA, the tournament is a tool to generate revenue and strengthen power vis-à-vis UEFA. European federations eye an XXL Club World Cup sceptically, fearing dilution of their own competitions. The YouTuber foresees a tug-of-war over slots, revenue sharing and scheduling that will dominate the agenda in the coming years.

In closing, Broski’s verdict is clear: in its current form the Club World Cup is a flop. Without reform, better marketing and higher prize money it remains a lacklustre obligation that neither fans nor clubs truly need. Only when sporting value, financial incentives and a sensible time window converge can the Club World Cup become a globally relevant highlight.
