**He lived in Peru for over twenty years - We are compatriots!**

In an unexpected and stunning turn of events, the Catholic world shakes as it discovers that the new Pope is Peruvian. Yes, you heard it right! Although born in Chicago, United States, in 1955, Robert Francis Prebost Martinez has become a compatriot by taking Peruvian nationality in 2015. This fact has filled Peruvians with joy and pride, who are celebrating with emotion the election of Leon XIV as the leader of the Catholic Church.

The video reveals how the new Pope's mother always had the conviction that at some point there would be a Peruvian pontiff, even considering that her own son could take that path. Although the now Pope acknowledges his imperfections and lack of calling for sanctity, the news of his election as the highest religious authority has been received with great enthusiasm by his mother and the entire Peruvian community.

The narration details the interesting life story of Robert Prebost Martinez, a man who at an early age discovered his religious vocation and joined the Augustinian order. With a theological education in Rome, at the age of 30 he decided to undertake missionary work in Peru, where he lived in three different periods for over 20 years.

His first stay in Chulucanas, a town in northern Peru, was followed by 11 years in Trujillo, an important city on the northern coast of the country. Despite the social and political difficulties Peru was going through at that time, Pastor Prebost Martinez demonstrated his courage and commitment by staying in the country and dedicating himself to religious and educational service in various Peruvian regions.

The third phase of his life in Peru began in 2014 when he was appointed bishop of Chiclayo, a city where he continued his pastoral work with wisdom and commitment. In 2015, as a gesture of gratitude towards the country that welcomed him and which he considers his home, he decided to become a Peruvian citizen by his own choice.

Thus, the story of Robert Francis Prebost Martinez becomes a testimony of love and gratitude towards Peru, a country he considers part of his identity and to which he has dedicated a good part of his life. With this new chapter in his life, Pope Leon XIV will continue the progressive legacy of his Argentine predecessor, representing a new era for the Catholic Church that fills Peruvian faithful and the entire Catholic world with hope.

The election of a Peruvian Pope has had a profound impact on the religious community and society in general, demonstrating that faith and commitment can transcend borders and unite people from different cultures in the same sense of brotherhood and unity.

We are compatriots, united under the guidance of the new Pope Leon XIV!
