The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) officially unveiled its 2025/26 calendars with a brief look back at last season’s excellent reception and the Federation’s strategic goals for the new campaign. Speaking before the press, clubs and sponsors, the spokesperson highlighted the importance of a balanced schedule that safeguards the spectacle, player welfare and international commitments, immediately introducing the new “unified calendar” as a cornerstone. He stressed that every domestic competition will respect FIFA and UEFA windows, ensuring the Spanish national team has the training blocks it needs to stay competitive.

The first major piece of the puzzle is LaLiga EA Sports 2025/26. Matchday 1 will be played on the weekend of 9–10 August 2025, and the final round will take place on 31 May 2026. The traditional asymmetric format remains, with marquee rivalry games staggered throughout the season to maximise global viewership. A winter break from 22 December to 2 January has been added to promote rest and family time for squads. Five mid-week matchdays are strategically placed to avoid congestion around European fixtures.

The 2025/26 Copa del Rey keeps its single-leg format through to the semi-finals. The preliminary round starts on 29 October, and the final will be played on 25 April 2026 at La Cartuja. To encourage upsets, top-flight clubs will always play away from home against lower-division opponents. As for the Spanish Super Cup, it will again be staged in Riyadh from 7 to 11 January, using a Final Four format with semi-finals and a final. Qualification remains for the league and cup champions and runners-up, while the RFEF emphasised the commercial success and global visibility achieved in Saudi Arabia.

LaLiga Hypermotion (Second Division) follows a similar pattern to the top flight but will conclude on 14 June with the promotion play-off final. On the women’s side, Liga F 25/26 kicks off on 30 August, and the Copa de la Reina final is set for 16 May, giving it greater media prominence. The RFEF also announced the full rollout of VAR in the Primera Federación and a new equal-time-slot protocol to showcase women’s football in premium broadcast windows.

A dedicated segment covered technological innovation: ballistic chips will be used in every First and Second Division match to enhance semi-automated VAR decisions; meanwhile, new AI projects will focus on injury prevention and predictive fixture planning to streamline travel and cut the carbon footprint. Competition officials addressed concerns about overlaps with the 2025 Club World Cup, confirming that affected matchdays have already been rescheduled to avoid overloading the qualified Spanish clubs.

The event ended with an invitation to download the complete calendars in PDF and subscribe to the RFEF’s official newsletter for updates, ticket draws and exclusive news on the 2025/26 season. More than merely revealing dates, the Federation laid the groundwork for a campaign packed with innovation, sustainability and excitement for Spanish football fans
