Intense continuous rain in Eastern Europe and the Alps has caused widespread flooding and inundations in many areas. In Austria, the situation has been escalating since this morning, with some places already declared disaster areas. And the rain is expected to continue for a while longer. Particularly in the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary, extreme amounts of rain could accumulate by Monday.
