Panama and Costa Rica drew 2-2 in the second leg of the quarter-finals in the League A of the Concacaf Nations League 2024/25, with Panama winning 3-2 on aggregate, on Monday at the Rommel Fernández Stadium in Panama City, Panama.

The Canaleros relied on their home crowd to build on the 1-0 victory in the first leg in San José, Costa Rica, last Thursday.

The visitors had an early chance to open the scoring and level the series on aggregate through a penalty attempt in the 7th minute, but Panama's goalkeeper, Orlando Mosquera, saved Warren Madrigal's shot.

César Blackman scored to give Panama the lead in the 14th minute, with a right-footed shot from close range after a header from José Córdoba on a cross from the left flank.

Costa Rica equalized in the 24th minute with a long-range right-footed shot from Alejandro Bran.

Panama regained their lead just before halftime in the 45+3’, with a left-footed curling shot from José Rodríguez into the top left corner of the net from outside the area.

Alonso Martínez scored for Los Ticos to level the match 2-2 in the 73rd minute, slotting the ball into the net with a right-footed effort inside the box.

Anthony Contreras had a chance to score the winning goal for Costa Rica in the 90+7’, but his header inside the area went over the crossbar.

Panama won the series 3-2 on aggregate and advanced to the CNL 2025 Finals and the 2025 Gold Cup.

Costa Rica concluded their participation in the CNL 2024/25 and will play in the 2025 Gold Cup Preliminaries.
