A frantic chase ensues; the group escapes thanks to a swift stallion that appears seemingly out of nowhere, foreshadowing the larger equine theme at the heart of the episode.

Regrouping in a secluded canyon, the adventurers finally meet the nomads: the Horse Alliance led by the stoic chieftain Kaelum and his fiercely independent daughter Lyra. Initial talks are tense—Kaelum blames outsiders for the pillagers’ spread and sees no reason to involve his clan in a foreign war. Saria counters by revealing Nether banners taken from a destroyed village, proving that the Horde will eventually reach the plains. A flashback montage shows Nether forces enslaving wild horses for their crimson war mounts, underscoring the shared threat. When Lyra shows empathy toward the wolf pack and tends to an injured foal rescued from pillager cages, Kaelum reluctantly grants the travelers a single night to prove their worth.

The episode’s centerpiece is a daring midnight raid on a fortified pillager stables where dozens of horses are being prepared for transport to Nether portals. Rainimator’s trademark fast-cut animation follows Harrion on the rooftops disabling crossbowmen, while Erym and Lyra sprint through alleyways freeing the terrified animals. A dramatic slow-motion moment depicts Saria blocking a Ravager’s charge with a shield of glowing runes, earning the respect of the plains warriors watching from the ridge. Kaelum publicly acknowledges that outsiders kept their promise and, in a solemn dusk ceremony, the Horse Alliance pledges loyalty to the Overworld rebellion. Ornate leather banners bearing a rearing horse are exchanged for Saria’s sapphire-inlaid battle-standard, symbolizing two cultures binding their fates. Brief intercuts show the Nether Horde reacting: an obsidian council chamber where the Wither-priest Narul marks a map, placing a crimson token over the plains, foreshadowing future clashes now that this critical region has turned against them.
