I Need To Get Out Of The Backrooms…

This video has been trending in United States, and Papua New Guinea

The video opens with a lone explorer abruptly clipping out of reality and landing in the endless, fluorescent-lit maze known as the Backrooms. Armed only with a handheld camera, he tries to stay calm while documenting the damp carpet, buzzing lights and uncanny yellow wallpaper that stretch in every direction. Early on he marks arrows on the walls to avoid walking in circles, but the shifting architecture quickly renders his efforts useless; every corner seems to lead to another identical corridor or an impossibly narrow crawl space. The audio track reinforces the unease—lights flicker overhead, distant footsteps echo, and an occasional metallic clang hints that something else is roaming the halls.

As minutes turn to hours, claustrophobia and sensory fatigue set in. The explorer discovers a stairwell descending into darker, industrial areas with exposed pipes dripping water onto concrete floors. Here, the yellow wallpaper disappears, replaced by rust-stained metal and blinking warning lights that suggest an abandoned utility facility. He locates a service map that promises an exit near a maintenance tunnel, but a muffled screech followed by hurried, wet footsteps forces him to abandon any orderly search. Sprinting blindly, he crashes into a storage room littered with overturned file cabinets, where he pauses to replay the footage he just recorded—confirming a brief glimpse of a tall, shadowy figure stalking him from behind.

Hope briefly returns when he stumbles upon a pastel-blue pool complex whose echoing acoustics provide a deceptive sense of openness. The tiled space appears empty, yet ripples on the water’s surface betray an unseen presence. An abrupt splash sends him racing through a narrow service vent that empties into another maze of yellow hallways. Exhausted, he starts leaving audio notes for anyone who might find the camera, repeating, “I need to get out of the Backrooms,” as both a plea and a mantra to stay focused.

The final sequence heightens the tension: fluorescent lights pop, plunging entire corridors into darkness while emergency strobes kick in. The explorer’s breathing grows erratic; the creature’s distorted growls grow louder and closer. In a frenzied dash he bursts through a warped doorway that seems to shimmer like a digital glitch. For a split second natural daylight floods the frame, but the floor collapses beneath him, sending him plummeting back into an endless black void. The camera lands askew, its battery indicator flashing red, and the screen cuts to static—leaving viewers trapped in uncertainty, just like the protagonist who still desperately needs to get out of the Backrooms.
